Houston Hyperbaric Oxygen Center

I would HIGHLY recommend Houston Hyperbaric Oxygen Center to anyone considering hyperbarics. They answered my call on a Sunday and patiently answered every question and helped me understand the process. I had a newer wound that I was told would lead to tissue loss. I have no insurance and I was feeling hopeless. I don't know why the doctor didn't immediately recommended hyperbarics, but fortunately a relative in health care knew about it for wound healing and I found HHBO. They worked with me to get a consultation, a virtual visit with their doctor, and my first session that very next day. I ended up doing ten sessions over two weeks, and every day with the staff was an absolute treat. They are incredibly professional, and also very personable. Every single staff member made me feel cared for. Within 24 hours of my first treatment, a section of my wound was visibly better. It went from a scary black to a black with deep purple. After five treatments the entire area looked so good that it was like magic. After the full ten sessions you would not even have believed me that my skin was black the previous week. An added bonus: I learned that people use hyperbarics for long Covid symptoms. I lost my sense of smell in March 2020. I was able to smell someone's cologne the moment they opened the chamber after my first treatment! Since my treatments I have been able to smell 1-10 things every week. It's amazing!!! I would have continued with treatments solely for my anosmia (lack of smell), but I live out of the country and had to return home. Without insurance I had to pay out of pocket for the treatments, but they were THOUSANDS of dollars cheaper per session based on my calls to other hyperbaric centers. If you read their website you'll find a lovely story about how the owner wants to make the treatments affordable to the community, and for that I will be forever grateful. It's also worth mentioning that I would have paid exponentially more to deal with the repercussions of tissue loss. I completed my sessions a few weeks ago and just realized that I forgot to leave a review. I dropped everything to write this in hopes that it helps someone. That's how much I recommend and believe in this center.
