Of course, everything happens on a Friday and when you’re on vacation. After talking to a few urgent cares, we were advised to go to the ER at Monument Health Hospital.
We had top-notch service the minute we checked in till we were escorted to the exit by two young ladies and failed to remember their names. Outstanding service by Jamie who registered us in, Cooper who took such excellent care of my husband getting him to his room, Lilly and Trevor great assistants seeing to our needs, Caleb the X-ray tech was so efficient and personable, made it easy right in the room. The PA and the Doctor that treated my husband were both amazing, we appreciated their knowledge and medical plan for my husband. Everyone deserves kudos for being so friendly, professional and extremely helpful! Thank you. -

Horrible care. The nurses made my wife feel like she was a burden by pushing the call light. Then when it came time to be discharged she was given things to take home and was given no explanation on how to use them. She also had to remove her own heart monitor leads and iv due to the fact the nurse wasn't willing to do the job we paid for. Do not recommend unless you prefer taking care of yourself while paying thousands of dollars

Monument Health, for Rapid City is Really a Good Place to go. The Staff are Very Pleasant, and Very Helpful to walk you to your Destination for your health appointment.
When you reach your appointment destination, the receptionist there are pleasant and check you in making sure you are the right person the dr is seeing. When called for your dr, the assistant for your dr checks your meds and she/he welcomes you to seeing the dr and finding out what may happen during your appointment seeing him/her. The Tests results and also the blood pressure and vitals are all taken, so the dr can easily see if any changes have happened. The Assistant is Very polite and real knowledgeable in doing her/his work before the dr. comes to see you. Everyone before the Dr sees you are Very Professional in their jobs they do. The Dr. sees you, and can go over tests if done, checks your chart of pertinent information you might not know, and he/she is Very in-tune to any and all questions you might have during your visit. The Dr is a Very Professional Person working to make sure You are in a Healthy State for Yourself and the Needs you might have in order to make yourself Healthy and to Feel Better too. The Dr is Always Good and Knowledgeable to Answer any and All Questions you might have during your appointment with him/her. Tests can be given for results he/she might want regarding your health diagnosis. Your Dr is the Best of the Best when seeing Him/Her from Monument Health. -

We brought our 88 year old mother in as she had fallen and broke her shoulder. She was kept in the ED hallway for approximately 4 1/2 hours. They discharged her. We got a call back four hours later, letting us know that we needed to bring her back and have her admitted to a telemetry unit as her troponin was elevated by three points. They missed this in the emergency department. Then, her primary care Doctor Who is with monument will not give her a cardiology consult. Horrible!!! I am a nurse. Thank god Sanford is coming. We will NOT deal with Monument and its terrible care!

The Monument Health Rapid City Hospital provides a great deal of care by a very small population of the medical personnel. Committed personell such as Dr. Hope and his diligent crew, Dr. Goodhope, Nurse Assistant Ashley, remarkable nurses Rowena, Stephanie, and a handful more provide all-around, skillful care. Unfortunately, like any other establishment, there are those that lack bedside manner, communication skills, and work ethic. This is why those named above and their tight ship crews deserve recognition and appreciation. The sour, incapable, and lackluster personnel gives the otherwise solid foundation of a hospital a bad reputation and inevitably impacts the rating. Some doctors lack basic bedside manners and some nurses lack organizational, communication, and multitasking skills to an atrocious degree. Not being able to provide timely responses for patients on your case load creates a recipe for backlogs, a lack of trust, and a detrimental outlook on the overall capabilities of the personnel, as a business is only as effective as its weakest link. Some personnel are in critical need of further training or shadowing of far superior personnel that deliver consistent, timely care. Keeping patients waiting after hitting the call button multiple times does not bode well for an organization's image and/or effectiveness. Hopefully, in due time, those who lack greatly in presence and capability will be properly trained or be shown the door to make space for more capable and efficient personnel.
