Privacy Policy

The short version

• You can use BestHBOT without signing up or logging in. There are no comments, payments or bookings on the site.
• We count visits and clicks with Google Analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics so we can see which pages and clinics people find useful.
• Our web host and Cloudflare keep standard technical logs to keep the site running and secure.
• If you join our newsletter, we keep your email address (and your name, if you give it) to send it.
• We don't sell your personal information.

What we collect

When you browse. Like most websites, ours receives basic technical details whenever a page loads: your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the time. See "Hosting and security" below.

When you search. What you type in the search box goes to our server, which sends the text to Google Places to suggest places, and then shows results. Google gets the search text from our server, not your IP address. We don't link your searches to you, but they may show up in our server logs.

When you click a clinic button. When you tap a clinic's Call, Website or Directions button, Google Analytics records which clinic it was, which button, the clinic's city and state, and the type of page you were on. We don't see your phone call or anything you do on the clinic's own website.

When you join the newsletter. The form asks for your email address. Your first and last name are optional.

When you email us. If you write to hello@besthbot.com, including to claim or correct a clinic listing, we get your email address and whatever you include in your message.

Please don't send us health information

We are not a medical provider, and we don't collect health information. Please don't email us details about your health or treatment. If you have a question about your own care, ask your doctor or the clinic.

How we use it

• To run the site, keep it secure and fix problems.
• To understand which pages, guides and clinics are useful, so we can improve the directory.
• To send the newsletter to people who asked for it.
• To answer your emails and fix listings.

We use these details for nothing else.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, added through the Google Site Kit plugin for WordPress. It counts page views and shows us how people move around the site, including the clinic button clicks described above. It uses cookies (listed below). The Google tag loads shortly after the page does: when you first tap or scroll, or after about three seconds.

We don't use Google Analytics data to show you ads.

Google Analytics keeps this data for a limited period set in our account, then deletes it.

We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without using cookies.

How to opt out. You can install Google's opt-out browser add-on, or block cookies in your browser settings. The site still works if you do.

Hosting and security

Our website is hosted by WP Engine. Like most web hosts, it keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested and time) for security and to keep the site running.

Cloudflare sits in front of our site. It helps pages load quickly and blocks bots and attacks. To do that, it sets a few security cookies that the site needs to work.

Google Maps and clinic photos

Clinic photos load from Google, and clinic pages show an embedded Google Map. When your browser loads these, Google receives your IP address and browser details. The Directions and "Read all on Google" links open Google Maps. Google handles that information under its own privacy policy.

Clinic names, addresses, phone numbers, ratings and reviews come from Google Places. They are business listings, not information about our visitors.

Cookies at a glance

Cloudflare Web Analytics doesn't set cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser at any time. If you block Cloudflare's cookies, some pages may ask you to pass a security check.

The newsletter

Our newsletter is optional and goes out once a month. We send it through Brevo, an email service. We use your details only to send the newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email. We don't sell or rent our list.

Ads and sponsored listings

We don't show ads or sponsored listings today. If we add display ads later, ad partners may use cookies, and we'll update this policy before they go live.

If we add sponsored listings, they'll be plain links. Sponsors won't get any tracking of your visit through them.

We don't use affiliate links or affiliate tracking.

We don't sell your information

We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it except with the service providers named on this page, which help us run the site.

Clinic websites

Our listings link to clinic websites, phone numbers and Google Maps. Once you leave BestHBOT, the other site's privacy policy applies, not ours.

Children

BestHBOT isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has sent us personal information, email us and we'll delete it.

Your choices and requests

You can email hello@besthbot.com to ask what information we hold about you. For most people, that's a newsletter sign-up or emails you've sent us. You can also ask us to delete it. To leave the newsletter, use the unsubscribe link in any email.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
