Encompass Healthcare and Wound Medicine

My brother Randy and I have been gifted with a life-changing miracle recently, and that miracle is Dr. Bruce Ruben and the staff of Encompass Healthcare and Wound Medicine. Randy was seriously injured in a car accident in August of 2017. His leg was severely damaged, requiring surgery to piece the bones back together. Over a period of several years Randy suffered indescribable pain and loss of mobility due to ongoing infections in the leg tissue and bone. This chronic condition severely limited his life activities and eventually forced him to retire early. The care he was receiving during this period from another well-known wound care center was the typical approach—debridement (scraping) of the wound, application of antibiotics, and wound wrapping. Despite the lack of progress with these standard treatments, the attending doctor and staff continued with this same approach. There was no path forward, no apparent hope of healing, and no end in sight. I had increasing concerns that Randy would likely lose his leg. I was also concerned with my brother’s emotional state—this lack of any progress, and the resulting impacts to his life, left him deeply depressed. Frustrated with this continuing lack of progress, we consulted with a friend who is a Health Care Professional. On her recommendation, we contacted Dr. Ruben at Encompass Healthcare and scheduled an initial appointment for an assessment— “a second opinion”. From the start, Dr. Ruben took a deeply personal interest in Randy’s case. After performing an in-depth series of scans and tests, Dr. Ruben established a detailed plan of treatment that began with addressing a previously undetected, underlying issue. As a result of Dr. Ruben’s skill, diligence and professionalism, as well as the support and encouragement of his superb team, my brother’s leg is nearly healed. This miraculous recovery from such a tragic situation was made possible because of the dedication and deep passion and empathy Dr. Rubin has for his patients. He was driven to cure my brother’s serious wound issues and would not accept anything less. He also healed another wound my brother and I both shared—a loss of faith and hope. I cannot adequately express my gratitude to Dr. Ruben and his staff for proving that miracles do happen.

I walk in and there is a dog that comes up and attacks my legs. I explain multiple times that I'm allergic to dogs, and the response was "he's friendly". They were cooking some kind of food in the kitchen and my only clothes I had are ruined now. Then the doctor has never heard of my condition, but tried to prescribe me Marijuana and Chinese Herbs.
