MUSC Health – Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine – Charleston

I had a very unpleasant experience this morning (Tuesday, 4/14/26 around 8:50 AM) at MUSC Horseshoe. I accidentally drove into the adult emergency parking area near Jonathan Lucas St while dropping off my wife. It was clearly a mistake, and I immediately apologized and explained the situation. However, the security staff member who approached us was extremely rude, loud, and unprofessional. She followed my car, raised her voice, and did not even allow my wife to safely step out. Despite my apology, she continued speaking aggressively and told me, “I don’t want to see you here again,” which felt completely unnecessary and disrespectful. I understand that certain areas have restrictions, but there is no excuse for treating people this way—especially when they are cooperative and clearly made an honest mistake. This kind of behavior reflects very poorly on the facility.

In my opinion: The physicians are excellent, but the medical staff do not respond to medical issues on “my chart “ therefore Failure to provide adequate medical care and jeopardize patient’s health.

The wound care dept. Has been so awesome. When I started, my feet were in a mess. Dr. Visserman and his wonderful nurses worked so hard for me. I am now healed and feel great. They new exactly what to do. They are not just professional but so sweet. They treat you like you are their best friend and family. I can talk to them about anything. I Love going in there. I have never felt more like I was home. Dr. Visserman is the sweetest and he is so good. Knew exactly what to do. I still have some things to finish. He will fight for you with Ins. If needed. We all just joke around and that makes me feel very comfortable. I recommend them 100%. He works closely with my surgeon, who is also incredible, Dr. Gross. Thank you guys for everything. Donna
