Yesterday was the first time I needed to use the ER at Mt. Auburn. I was stuck there for an extended period of time and so I got to absorb the atmosphere. Aside from finding the staff to be friendly and professional in dealing with me, I witnessed a level of kindness to other patients that I just didn't expect after watching so much ER based TV over the years. Kudos to the staff and to whoever higher up in the management hierarchy that has encouraged this culture.

Caring and competent medical professionals can be found at this community hospital. Unfortunately, staffing appears very short. On a Sunday morning, no one at front desk in lobby; 75-minute wait to see ER doc (not so bad); an additional 75 minutes for discharge papers. Cafeteria and gift shop were closed. Limited menu available in café.

Terrible waiting, they made us come by 6 am and we waited almost 2 hours to be called in, I would not recommend this place to anyone, they will certainly get my survey soon. I asked what was going on and they said: "we are busy", no apologies or anything, they could have called us and told us to come at least 1 hour later. They are totally disorganized. A nurse called a day before and told us to come at 6:20 another by 6:30 and we arrived by 6 cause who knows what they are doing here. At the reception they assign you a number but they do not give you the number to monitor the status of your family member on the screen (attached), you have to go back and ask, it would be nice if they offered you upfront that info, so you're not sitting there and in the dark. Once seen the staff and doctors are nice.

My 89 year old mom was hospitalized for over a month at Mount Auburn, in the beganning she was in the ICU, She was then moved to a different floor. She was ready to be discharged on a Friday. and possibly left unattended in the bathroom and she fell forward and broke her nose.. My mother wanted to leave so bad she had to stay another week., On the following Friday, ready to leave again, She had been discharged at 10:00 o'clock by the doctor to be released that afternoon to Beer Hill. in Stoneham. The doctor stopped the release because of the lab work didn't look good the doctor told me that my mom would have died that night If she didn't receive the proper care at the hospital. At that point, my mother was devastated. She wanted to be done and out of that hospital. The transfer was postponed for Monday. We were told that mom was going to die. and to call in Hospice. She arrived At Bear Hill at 6:00 o'clock at night. Mom couldn't breathe. She had lung edema, The ride was just too much for her. At that time, I asked the nurses to give her morphine. while reviewing the script from the hospital. The discharge papers did not have that my mother had been on morphine. Therefore, they could not administer the morphine and till they got it as a script. The rehab called the hospital, the hospital told the rehab that two of the nurses that took care of mom vowed that MORPHINE HAD NEVER BEEN ADMINISTERED , the doctor that discharged her said the same thing. We looked like a family of fools. My mother had to suffer from six o'clock to 8:30 at night. They couldn't take the responsibility to give a morphine unless It was in the script After many phone calls, I finally talked to the manager on the 3rd floor. She apologized profoundly and told me that they had made a mistake. My mother was in agony because of. somebody's mistake. My mother died a day later. I hope somebody reads this, when Hospice is introduced to the family, it shouldn't be up to the family to tie the knots dot the eyes and cross the T's. You should be the hospital's responsibilities. to make it happen. I was lost. I was so lost. I don't want to what happened to my family. Happened to anyone else My mother couldn't gasp for air because of somebody's mistake., it is wrong.. My mother's name was Maria Lombardo, and I'm willing to talk to whoever wants to talk to me. I'm not saying that the whole stay was bad, but that was a big mistake.

I went Mt. Auburn ER with fever and chills and was diagnosed and rushed to emergency with urosepsis. From the life saving care in ER to the testing and recovery process, I can’t give enough praise about my experience. The nurses, technicians, & doctors were very caring & professional. They literally saved my life! If I could give them a higher rating than 5 stars, I would.
